Out of the Box Thinking

A house for a Magician. On the magic form of the golden rectangle, nothing is safe. Relentless reformation of the “normal house” was never the aim, it just happened that way. “The house was conceived, and I don’t mean to be brute about it, the house was conceived as a bomb shelter and a greenhouse” according to talented local Architect David Hanawalt.

“The owner is a musician, a magician, and an adman. The design, therefore,

had to have elements of all of these unique qualities from his personality. By the time we included these, there was simply no room left for a normal house. So it is three rooms. A Library, a Spa and an Observatory” quips Hanawalt. One can sit in the hot tub, look through the fireplace, through the living room, through the 8′ square sliding glass door and out onto Lake Michigan, brilliant in design. The steam room is glass mosaic tile, with Light Emitting Diodes that shine through the glass tile, and through the steam.
